10 – Fortunate Son

Summary

A cargo ship is under attack from Naussican pirates. They send out a distress signal, and the Enterprise arrives to help. They soon find out that the acting captain of the cargo ship has something to hide.

Commentary

Here is another below-average episode. Not much going on here, except that we get some interaction with Naussicans. It’s not a very interesting episode, and I also don’t like it that it is inconsistent with the Naussicans we’ve seen before. Here, they actually communicate in full sentences, whereas before, they used to say one or two words at most. The only good thing about this episode is Travis Mayweather, whose family used to run cargo ships also.
