8 – Breaking the Ice

Summary

Captain Archer discovers a comet outside the window of the Enterprise. Because the Vulcans never mentioned this comet before, Archer technically discovered it. The crew finds out that this comet contains a lot of a rare mineral, and they decide to land a shuttlecraft on the surface to mine some of it. A Vulcan ship hovers nearby, causing Archer to become even more impatient with the Vulcans.

Commentary

The best part of this episode is that we finally start to see T’Pol become more comfortable around her human crewmates. There are some good insights to her character. The title of this show reflects more than just one aspect of the storyline.
