68 – Elaan of Troyius

Summary

The Enterprise is asked to transport a female ruler of a warrior race to her enemy’s planet. In an attempt to stop their war, she has been given to the opposing ruler as his wife. She has no manners, so of course Kirk takes it upon himself to teach her. But he quickly falls under her spell.

Commentary

In one of the best episodes of this third season, Kirk again falls for some alien woman. This time, it’s with one who has no manners and who doesn’t know how to get people to like her. It’s easy to feel sorry for the woman, as the actress who plays her did a very good job. The story itself is a bit corny, but a lot better than what we usually saw in this season.
