61 – Spectre of the Gun

Summary

Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty and Chekov are snatched off the Enterprise and onto a planet that resembles 1890 Tombstone, Arizona. They have to figure out why and how they can get back to the ship.

Commentary

This is one of the better episodes of the third season, but that’s not saying much, really. By now, everyone knew the show would be cancelled, and the budget had been cut back so much that they couldn’t even afford to build a complete set. This is one of those tedious “testing humanity” episodes that seem to happen way too often, but at least here, it was with an interesting storyline.

This isn’t exactly historically accurate, so don’t watch this before you take that US History test on the Old West.
