37 – I, Mudd

Summary

An android takes over the Enterprise and forces the ship to orbit a planet where Kirk’s nemesis Harry Mudd is in charge.

Commentary

Pretty dumb. The last few minutes when the crew tries to talk circles around the robots is just overly silly and stupid. I suppose you’ll like this episode more if you like silly stuff. I personally like the more serious efforts from this franchise, so I don’t care for this episode too much.

But I do get tired of seeing the same things over and over again. I wonder how many more times Kirk is going to beam down to a planet and get trapped. Well it could be worse. At least he’s not Captain Archer.

Of Note

This isn’t the last time we see Harry Mudd. He also shows up in the Animated Series, with a similar plan to the one he had in the first season.
