35 – The Doomsday Machine

Summary
A mechanized ship with the power to consume planets has just attacked another Federation ship, the USS Constellation. The Enterprise races to her rescue, and hopefully, defend the Federation against the attacker.
Commentary
This is a pretty good episode, and definitely one of the more interesting shows of the second season. The characterizations are good, the danger seems fairly real, and the solution is very interesting and exciting. For a minute or two, we’re not sure if it’s going to work.
Of Note
Commodore Decker in this episode is the father of Captain Decker in the first Star Trek movie.
